Turlock, CA- Turlock gastroenterologist Dr. E. Isaac Faraji has been elected Emanuel Medical Center's medical chief of staff for 2011.
Dr. Faraji has served on the hospital's Board of Directors for the past two years and was vice chief of staff in 2010. He was elected by the physician members of the Emanuel medical staff at a recent meeting. "As Chief of Staff, Dr. Faraji is responsible for presiding over Emanuel's medical staff meetings, directing the Emanuel medical staff executive committee, serving as liaison between physicians and hospital administrators and interpreting hospital policies to the medical staff," said John Sigsbury, president and chief executive officer for Emanuel. "Dr. Faraji is well-respected by his peers and we value his leadership and clinical expertise."
"I think being involved is critical for any physician," Dr. Faraji said. "There are many issues that affect both the patient and the hospital. It is our responsibility, together with the hospital, to ensure quality patient care, and excellence in our practices and our profession."
As a gastroenterologist, Dr. Faraji sees patients with liver, esophageal and stomach diseases, and condition's like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. He is a member of the Obesity Society and the American Society of Bariatric Physicians.
"Gastrointestinal diseases have a tremendous impact on a patient's quality of life," he said.
Dr. Faraji has practiced in Turlock for eight years. Originally from Iran, he studied medical technology at Louisiana State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Louisiana Tech. He earned his MD from Ross University School of Medicine and served his internal medicine internship and residency at the Medical College of Philadelphia. While there, he also completed a three-year fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology.
