Free Mammograms for Uninsured or Underinsured Women
Free Mammograms Available at Emanuel for Uninsured or Underinsured Women
Turlock, CA— Women over the age of 40 who do not have health insurance or who are underinsured may qualify for a free mammogram to screen for breast cancer in the New Year.
With a $20,000 grant from the Bill & Elsie Ahlem Cancer Endowment, Emanuel Cancer Center will provide 100 women free mammograms and any necessary follow-up tests at its Ruby E. Bergman Women’s Diagnostic Center located inside the cancer center.
The Bergman Center is one of Northern California’s most advanced breast-cancer detection facilities, offering the latest in digital mammography and image-guided biopsy capability.
“For women over 40, mammograms are an essential part of maintaining good health,” said Dr. Shawna Escobar at the Women’s Diagnostic Center. “No woman should skip getting a mammogram because of health insurance reasons. But some do, and that’s what we’re trying to address with this Ahlem Cancer Endowment grant.”
